CLINICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND RESULT OF LOCAL FLAP RECONSTRUCTION FOR FINGERTIP INJURY IN ADULTS

Background: Fingertip injury at different levels is a common and management varies with variable outcomes. Local flap reconstruction techniques are the most commonly used method of treatment satisfactory results in most. The current study aimed to analyze clinical characteristics local fingertip injuries. Methods: This was retrospective observational 31 injuries 24 patients treated one three techniques; V-Y advancement flap, thenar Moberg performed by single orthopedic surgeon tertiary care teaching hospital over 2 years period. variables analyzed were demographic characteristics, take-up function, cosmesis finger nail using descriptive statistics. Results: There total morphology mean age 35.79 (range 18-55). Household tools or machine-related mode injury. A 23 (74%) amputations level 5 cases 3 thumb tip amputation laceration flap. All flaps survived well preservation sensation, acceptable cosmesis. Conclusions: can give rise consistently good They technically simple, reliable should be practiced all trauma surgeons whenever it indicated.
